Need help for a friend in Fayetteville, NC

Hi! I used to be at BF.com and I remember a member there and here that is a WIC breastfeeding educator. If that member is still here please let me know who you are so she can ask for your help. Is it Paw or Otter?

Here is her problem: She had a baby boy by Section Sunday night. She is breastfeeding, but since they came home today, he isn't latching well(only taking nipple) and her nipples are becoming raw. He is also getting to latch on, and quickly pulling off.

Her milk still isn't in well and she is afraid that they are going to push her to supplement with formula because of jaundice. The LC at the hospital was too rough and IMO quite scatterbrained and gave some crappy advice.  My friend finally got a nurse that was helpful, but that was just before discharge.

I gave her a little info about keeping him in the sun in just a dipe to help with the jaundice, and told her I would help find her a LLL leader to talk with and that I knew of someone t WIC she may get help from. I really want to be there for her, but we are in Florida, and her in NC.

Any help and suggestions that I can pass on would be great, too. Thanks!

Paw is the WIC counselor, I'm a lactation consultant. Nursing the baby in just a diaper by a sunny window is the best fix for the jaundice. For the latch, I still have an NC phone number if she'd like to give me a call. Just PM me if she's interested.
